Privacy Policy
-
The SweetSpot service is owned and operated by SweetSpot Diabetes Care, Inc. (“SweetSpot” or “us”).
SweetSpot is committed to giving you significantly greater rights over your personal data than the industry standard or the law requires.
This privacy policy is effective as of April 12th, 2010, applies to information collected through or for the site SweetspotDiabetes.com, and covers the following areas:
-
- What personally identifiable information is collected by SweetSpot;
- How SweetSpot uses this information;
- With whom SweetSpot may share this information;
- What choices are available to you as a user of the site with respect to collection, use and distribution of the information;

- How you can correct any inaccuracies in the information.
- 1. Information Collection and Use
-
SweetSpot collects information on the site at three different stages. First, we collect anonymous server log information (such as domain name or IP address) from all visitors to the site. This type of information is is used solely for internal purposes, to help us improve your user experience, and is not linked to personally identifiable information.
Second, we require the submission of a working e-mail address for you to register to use the site or receive notices about it. Registration for SweetSpot’s basic service does not require you to submit any other personal identifiers such as name, address, telephone number, social security number or health insurance information.
Third, if you register for and use the service, SweetSpot will receive certain personal health information, such as data from your diabetes monitoring equipment. You have the option to make your information available to your health care providers.
- 2. Use of Your Personally Identifiable Information
-
SweetSpot will not sell, rent, or share your personally identifiable information to or with any third party not affiliated with or owned by SweetSpot. SweetSpot reserves the right to share information with service providers who may assist SweetSpot in such areas as data storage, provided that the service provider agree to terms no less protective of your personally identifiable information than this privacy policy.
SweetSpot offers you the ability to share your personally identifiable information with a specific third party, but only with your express permission. If you establish such a relationship, you can terminate it at anytime from within SweetSpot.
If you give SweetSpot your express permission and choose to participate in our research program, we will share your health information in anonymous form with third party researchers. You will be identified to the researcher only by a unique identification code, allowing SweetSpot to contact you on the researchers’ behalf if they would like additional information. If you have opted into the research program, you can opt out at anytime.
- 3. Disclosure of Personal Information As Required By Law
-
We will disclose personal information when required by law, or if we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to (a) comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served on us, (b) protect and defend our rights, (c) protect the rights, property, and other interests of our users or others, or (d) in the case of a medical emergency, to avert a serious threat to a user’s health and safety.
- 4. Business Transitions
-
If SweetSpot becomes involved in a merger, acquisition, or any form of sale of some or all of its assets, we will provide notice before personal information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
- 5. Security
-
SweetSpot encrypts sensitive communications through our site with 256-bit encryption, which exceeds the industry standard for strong encryption. We also encrypt all personally identifiable information in our system so it is not stored in a readable format. However, given the nature of the Internet and the fact that network security measures are not infallible, we cannot guarantee the security of your information. We maintain notification procedures as part of our information security policy, to be used in the event of a data security breach. If we are required to provide notice to you of a data security breach, the notice will be provided in electronic form.
When you register for access to secure areas of the site, we will ask you to select a username and password. We recommend that you do not divulge your password to anyone. We will never ask you for your password except when you attempt to sign into the site.

However, if you have deleted and deactivated your account, then you will not be contacted and your personal information will not be used in this new manner.
